HOW YOUR AIR PURIFIER WORKS
2-Stage Air Purification System
Your air purifier uses a three stage air purification system to help purify the air that passes through the filter (see Figure 1):

STAGE 1 - HEPA type filter removes up to 99% of airborne allergens as small as 2 microns, including ragweed pollen, grass pollen, tree pollen, household dust, dust mite debris, mold spores and pet dander from the air passing through it.
STAGE 2 - UV BULB and PCO (photocatalytic oxidation) helps to reduce germs, viruses, bacteria and fungi and remove VOC's from the air passing through the system.
GET TO KNOW YOUR AIR PURIFIER
YOUR BIONAIRE ® AIR PURIFIER FEATURES:

ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT
Ultraviolet light is a proven technology used to help reduce various types of bacteria, viruses, fungi and mould spores and is commonly used in hospitals and commercial settings for sanitizing. This air purifier uses a UV-C bulb.
PERMANENT HEPA TYPE FILTER
Permanent HEPA type filter removes up to 99% of airborne allergens as small as 2 microns, including ragweed pollen, grass pollen, tree pollen, household dust, dust mite debris, mold spores and pet dander from the air passing through it. The permanent filter allows for easy maintenance and eliminates the hassle of filter replacement.
THREE SPEED SETTINGS
For optimum air filtration, operate your Bionaire ® air cleaner continuously on the highest (HIGH) setting. Its rugged motor has been designed to give many years of use. For quieter operation (such as in a bedroom), select the lowest (LOW) setting.

IONIZER
This appliance has an ionizer, which releases negative ions into outgoing filtered air to help the air purification process.
What Are Ions?
Ions are tiny particles that carry a positive or negative charge. They exist naturally around us: in the air, water, and ground. Both positive and negative ions are colorless, odorless, and completely harmless to humans.
How Does The Ionizer Work?
Negative ions help air purification by attaching themselves to very small airborne particles in the room. These particles take on a negative charge and may join with positively charged particles such as dust, pollen, and pet dander to form larger particles. These larger particles are then more easily captured by the filter system.
Important Notes:

The ionizer in this appliance produces less ozone than the UL established limits of 50ppb. However, in high concentrations, ozone can be harmful to birds and small pets. To prevent ozone buildup, we suggest using the ionizer in well ventilated areas with the fan on.

Always clean the filter at the recommended intervals (See HEPA FILTER CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS). Using the ionizer with dirty filter may result in dirty particles exiting the air purifier and attracting to walls, carpets, furniture, or other household objects. These dirty particles may prove difficult to remove.

ENERGY STAR ® CERTIFICATION
This product earned the ENERGY STAR ® CERTIFICATION by meeting strict energy efficient guidelines set by the US EPA. The energy efficiency of this ENERGY STAR ® qualified model is measured based on a ratio between the model's CADR for dust and the electrical energy it consumes, or CADR/ Watt.

REPLACING THE ULTRAVIOLET (UV) BULB
Over time, the UV-C bulb will lose some intensity. We recommend you replace the UV-C bulb at least once every year. You will know when it is time to change the bulb when you can no longer see a blue glow through the front of the unit or when the LED above the UV button on the control panel is flashing. Check for proper installation. See changing the UV bulb. If that does not solve the issue, we recommend purchasing a replacement bulb.
